Smarter Home Renovations (“we”, “us”, “our”) is a family-run renovation business based in Melbourne, Victoria. We respect your privacy and handle personal information in line with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles.

This policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, how we use and share it, and how you can access or correct it or make a complaint.

2. What we collect

Depending on how you deal with us, we may collect:

  • your name, phone number and email address;
  • your property address and postcode;
  • details of your project, such as the type of renovation, timeframe, budget and any notes you give us;

  • records of our calls, emails and messages with you, and of site visits, quotes and work we carry out;
  • technical information about your visit to our website, such as your browser, device and the pages you view (see Cookies and analytics below).

We do not ask for sensitive information, such as health information. Please don’t include it in an enquiry. If you do not give us the information we ask for, we may not be able to respond to your enquiry or prepare an estimate.

3. How we collect it

We collect personal information directly from you: when you fill in our contact or free estimate forms, call or email us, meet us at your property, or work with us on a renovation. If someone else contacts us for you (for example, a family member or property manager), we may collect your details from them.

4. How we use it

We use your personal information to:

  • respond to your enquiry and arrange a consultation or site visit;
  • prepare estimates, quotes and designs for your project;

  • manage payments, warranties and any follow-up work;
  • improve our website and services;
  • meet our legal, insurance and record-keeping obligations.

With your consent, we may also send you occasional updates or offers. You can opt out at any time by using the unsubscribe link or contacting us.

5. Who we share it with

We only share personal information where it is needed to deliver our services or where the law requires it. This may include:

  • the tradespeople, designers and suppliers working on your project;
  • building surveyors, engineers, inspectors and certifiers;
  • your local council or other authorities when permits or approvals are needed;
  • our insurers and professional advisers, such as accountants and lawyers;
  • service providers who host our website, email and business systems.

We never sell, rent or trade your personal information.

Some of our service providers (for example, website hosting and email services) may store or process information outside Australia. Where this happens, we take reasonable steps to make sure your information is protected in line with the Australian Privacy Principles.
