Coastal elegance meets modern comfort at the Deck House

The Brief

What the Client Needed

The Deck House is a well-known holiday home on the Great Ocean Road between Lorne and Apollo Bay. The renovation set out to enhance its coastal charm while adding modern comfort, inside and out.

The Outcome

Outside, wider Merbau decking and a glass balustrade open up the views, with repaired and repainted walls and new walkway lighting. Inside, a refurbished kitchenette, a new bathroom, Tasmanian Oak floors and a freestanding bath in the bay window create a serene coastal retreat.

Scope of Works
  • Old metal handrails and 90 x 19mm decking removed
  • 140 x 19mm Merbau decking, sanded and oiled
  • Glass balustrade on stainless steel spigots with stainless steel handrail
  • External walls, windows, gutters and downpipes repaired and painted
  • LED downlights along the timber walkway
  • Kitchenette refurbished with new appliances, tapware and black quartz benchtop
  • Bathroom with wall-hung vanity, level-entry shower and frameless screen
  • Solid Tasmanian Oak floorboards in the main living area
  • Freestanding bath in the bay window with beachfront views
