Coastal Elegance Meets Modern Comfort in Wye River

Situated along the picturesque Great Ocean Road, the Deck House is a renowned holiday destination nestled between Lorne and Apollo Bay. Our renovation aimed to enhance its coastal charm while introducing modern amenities for comfort and functionality.
Storage and functionality were key priorities. The new kitchen layout includes two sets of deep pot drawers, overhead cupboards for extra storage, and cleverly concealed built-in spaces, including a hidden bin cupboard. All drawers and doors feature soft-close mechanisms, ensuring durability and a high-end finish.
Exterior Enhancements
We began by removing the aged metal handrails and original 90mm x 19mm timber decking. In their place, we installed wider 140mm x 19mm Merbau timber boards, finished with sanding and oiling to withstand the coastal elements. A new glass-paneled balustrade, mounted on stainless-steel spigots and topped with a stainless-steel handrail, was added to provide unobstructed views of the stunning surroundings. Additionally, we repaired and painted the external walls, windows, gutters, and downpipes, and installed external LED downlights along the timber walkway leading to the Deck House.
Interior Upgrades
Inside, we refurbished the existing kitchenette with new appliances, tapware, and a sleek black quartz stone benchtop. The bathroom underwent a complete transformation, featuring a wall-mounted vanity, level-entry shower with frameless screen, new toilet, large mirror, updated tapware, and new floor and wall tiles throughout.
In the main living area, we replaced the existing flooring with solid Tasmanian Oak hardwood floorboards, finished with a high gloss to enhance the natural light. A stand-alone bath was strategically placed in the bay window area, sitting atop large tiles and offering breathtaking beachfront views. To complete the interior, we installed new LED downlights and switches, and repaired and painted all walls, ceilings, and windows.
