Powder room & laundry into a small bathroom
“We are delighted with our new bathroom. Tony made the entire process very easy for us, which is what you want when renovating. Nothing was too much trouble and he was very patient with all our questions and provided great advice on the design and installation. The workmanship was of high quality and the quote was highly competitive. Highly recommend Tony and his team!”
Bathroom renovations: stressless and wonderful
“Thank you, Tony and your team, for a stressless and wonderful bathroom renovation. Our 4-year-old townhouse bathroom and ensuite showers had serious leakage issues, with water leaking into the walls and between floors. The builder was happy to silicone the problem as a solution. The only options were to replace the showers, or a full renovation for both rooms. We chose the latter. Tony provided a competitive quote. Despite the inevitable out-of-square bathroom issues, the job was completed without stress, on-time and in budget, and the finish was fabulous. And square. We are now looking at a kitchen update. Tony, find some time. Highly recommend Tony and the team.”
Wow! Now that's a bathroom
“In such difficult times we were so grateful that we picked Tony and his crew to renovate our bathroom. His knowledge of the industry and his attention to detail is second to none. Tony was always easy to contact and happy to discuss any issues. The standard of workmanship was outstanding. We love our new bathroom!”
Renovating Bathrooms in Epping Homes
In Epping’s 1970s and 1980s houses the bathroom is often original, with coloured tiles, a separate toilet and a shower over the bath, and there may be no ensuite at all. Homes in the newer estates usually have a main bathroom and ensuite built to a budget, and many are now showing leaking showers, tired grout or cramped vanities.
That shapes most of our Epping bathroom renovations: updating original family bathrooms, adding or enlarging an ensuite in older homes, replacing failing shower bases with fully waterproofed walk-in showers, and fitting larger vanities with better storage. Most interior bathroom work doesn’t need a planning permit from the City of Whittlesea, and our licensed trades provide compliance certificates for plumbing and electrical work.

Before You Start
What to Plan For in an Epping Bathroom
Waterproofing
Original 1970s and 80s Bathrooms
Epping’s large-scale suburban growth began in the 1970s, and many homes in the older streets around High Street and the station still have their first bathroom: coloured tiles, a shower over the bath and a separate toilet. These rooms usually need a full strip-out, new waterproofing to the Australian Standard and updated plumbing rather than a cosmetic refresh.
Asbestos
Asbestos Behind Old Tiles
Bathrooms in Epping homes built before 1990 can have asbestos cement sheeting behind the wall tiles or in the ceiling. Suspect sheeting is tested before the old tiles come off, and larger amounts must go to a licensed asbestos removalist. We allow for this in your quote so it does not become a surprise halfway through.
Plumbing
Adding an Ensuite to an Older Home
Many older Epping houses were built with one bathroom for the whole family. An ensuite can often be created from part of the main bedroom, a walk-in robe or a reworked bathroom and toilet. Where these homes are on stumps with timber floors, running new drainage is usually easier than in a slab home.
Estates
Epping North and Aurora Ensuites
Homes in Epping North and the Aurora estate were mostly built from the 2000s, with substantial growth between 2006 and 2011. Their ensuites often have a preformed shower base and a framed screen that are now leaking or tired. Replacing them with a tiled, fully waterproofed walk-in shower is one of the most common upgrades.
Apartments
Units and Townhouses
Epping has a growing number of units and townhouses, particularly near High Street, Pacific Epping and the station. If your property has an owners corporation, approval may be needed for noise, access or changes to shared services. We coordinate with the owners corporation so work starts on time.

Do I need a permit to renovate a bathroom in Epping?
Usually not. Internal bathroom work generally needs no planning permit from the City of Whittlesea, and a building permit is only needed if the structure changes. A small number of individual places in the municipality are covered by a Heritage Overlay, so we check your address before work starts.
Have you renovated bathrooms in Epping before?
Yes. Our Epping Bathroom Renovation project included a main bathroom and an ensuite, with a built-in bath, a wall-to-wall ensuite shower and a double vanity. You can see the photos on the project page. Every home is different, so we design your bathroom around your layout and budget.
Our older Epping house has one bathroom. How do we cope during the renovation?
A bathroom renovation usually takes 2 to 4 weeks. In a one-bathroom home we plan the work so the toilet is out of action for as little time as possible, and some families arrange to shower with relatives or at a gym for part of that time. We give you a clear schedule before starting.
Is a walk-in shower possible in a 1970s Epping bathroom?
Usually, yes. Removing the shower over the bath and building a walk-in shower with a tiled base is a common change in older Epping homes. On a timber floor we can often set the shower base lower for a near-level entry. We check the floor structure once the old bathroom is out.
Is renovating an Epping bathroom before selling or leasing a good idea?
Epping’s 1970s and 1980s brick veneer homes in the older streets near High Street often have their original bathroom, with feature tiles, a small shower recess and a vanity with little storage. Buyers and renters will accept an older style if the room is watertight and clean. Fix leaks and ventilation first, then replace the most worn fittings. Victoria’s rental minimum standards require a washbasin, a shower or bath, and hot and cold water.
