Outstanding Service
“Tony and Milan redid my tired old-looking floor and skirting in the whole kitchen area. Their attention to detail, prompt, friendly, value for money and service is A+. It's good to see that they take your job as if it's their own home they are renovating. LOVE YOUR WORK GUYS AND THANK YOU. I highly recommend.”
Kitchen and outdoor renovations
“Fantastic service and fantastic price. We had our outdoor area fully tiled and our kitchen renovated. They talked me through the process step by step, did what they promised in the time they promised, were always on time and so very friendly. They even went out of their way with additional extras, running around Melbourne buying everything I needed to take the pressure off me. Would recommend you give them a try. The pricing is very reasonable and affordable, and nothing was too big for them to do. Father and son service, fantastic team.”

Renovating Kitchens in Windsor Homes
Windsor packs Victorian terraces and workers’ cottages, Edwardian houses, 1960s and 1970s walk-up flats and newer apartments into a small area around Chapel Street and High Street. Kitchens in the period homes are usually narrow rooms at the rear, often galley-style, while apartment kitchens are compact and need to work hard for their size.
Kitchen projects here usually involve opening narrow rear kitchens into living areas, adding skylights and storage, fitting compact apartment kitchens with clever joinery, and connecting the kitchen to a small courtyard. Parts of Windsor are in a Heritage Overlay, so external changes can need a planning permit, and kitchen work in apartments goes through your owners corporation.

What to Plan For in a Windsor Kitchen
Layout
Galley Kitchens in Terraces
Rear kitchens in Windsor terraces are often narrow galleys along the side boundary wall, sometimes with a passage through to the yard. Keeping cabinetry along one long wall, and adding a slim island or peninsula only where the width allows, keeps the walkway clear. We check clearances against your actual room rather than a standard plan.
Light
Light Without Side Windows
Terraces built up to the side boundary have no side windows, so the kitchen relies on the back door and any light court. A skylight over the bench, a roof window in the lean-to roof or glazed doors to the courtyard can change the room completely. We check the roof framing and whether the change would be visible from the street in a heritage area.
Apartments
Rangehood Ducting in Flats
In many Windsor flats the rangehood only recirculates air because there is no duct to the outside. Ducting through an external wall or ceiling usually counts as a change affecting common property, so owners corporation approval is needed. Where ducting isn’t possible, a good recirculating rangehood with charcoal filters and an exhaust fan nearby is the fallback.
Access
Deliveries on Busy Streets
Parking near Chapel Street and in Windsor’s narrow side streets is limited, and some terraces have no rear access. Cabinets, stone benchtops and appliances may need to be carried through the front door and down the hallway. We measure doorways and stairs before ordering so large panels fit, and arrange any council permits for parking or skips.
Electrical
Older Wiring and Induction
Older Windsor flats often have a small switchboard with limited circuits, and some still cook on gas. Changing to induction needs a dedicated circuit and possibly a switchboard upgrade, and in apartments the supply capacity to the unit can be the limit. Our licensed electricians check this before you choose appliances and provide a Certificate of Electrical Safety.

Can I open up the kitchen in my Windsor terrace?
Often, yes, but internal walls in terraces may be load bearing, and the wall shared with next door can’t be removed. Taking out an internal structural wall generally needs a building permit and an engineer’s beam design. We look at the roof and floor framing first, so you know what is possible before design work starts.
Do I need approval for a kitchen renovation in my Windsor apartment?
Replacing cabinets and benchtops on the same layout often needs little more than notice to the owners corporation and keeping to permitted work hours. Moving plumbing, ducting a rangehood outside or changing flooring in a way that affects sound transfer usually needs approval. We read your building’s rules, prepare drawings and coordinate with the manager.
Will a heritage overlay affect my Windsor kitchen?
Interior kitchen work is generally not controlled by the Heritage Overlay, unless the planning scheme lists internal controls for your property, which is uncommon. External changes, such as a new rear window, a skylight visible from the street or a rear extension, may need a planning permit. We check the controls for your address.
What kitchen work suits a Windsor flat we plan to lease?
Tenants in Windsor flats tend to notice whether the cooktop, oven and rangehood work properly and whether there is enough bench and cupboard space. Replacing worn doors and benchtops, adding drawers and fixing a tired splashback refreshes a small kitchen without moving plumbing. Durable finishes that clean easily usually suit a rental better than delicate ones.
