Powder room & laundry into a small bathroom
“We are delighted with our new bathroom. Tony made the entire process very easy for us, which is what you want when renovating. Nothing was too much trouble and he was very patient with all our questions and provided great advice on the design and installation. The workmanship was of high quality and the quote was highly competitive. Highly recommend Tony and his team!”
Bathroom renovations: stressless and wonderful
“Thank you, Tony and your team, for a stressless and wonderful bathroom renovation. Our 4-year-old townhouse bathroom and ensuite showers had serious leakage issues, with water leaking into the walls and between floors. The builder was happy to silicone the problem as a solution. The only options were to replace the showers, or a full renovation for both rooms. We chose the latter. Tony provided a competitive quote. Despite the inevitable out-of-square bathroom issues, the job was completed without stress, on-time and in budget, and the finish was fabulous. And square. We are now looking at a kitchen update. Tony, find some time. Highly recommend Tony and the team.”
Wow! Now that's a bathroom
“In such difficult times we were so grateful that we picked Tony and his crew to renovate our bathroom. His knowledge of the industry and his attention to detail is second to none. Tony was always easy to contact and happy to discuss any issues. The standard of workmanship was outstanding. We love our new bathroom!”
Renovating Bathrooms in Wallan Homes
Bathrooms in Wallan’s new estate homes are usually a main bathroom and ensuite with standard fittings, and owners often want more storage, larger showers or better finishes. Older homes in the township tend to have one original bathroom with a bath and overhead shower, and some rural properties have dated fit outs and rely on tank water.
Common Wallan bathroom projects include upgrading estate ensuites with larger showers and double vanities, fully renovating older bathrooms with new waterproofing and tiling, adding a second bathroom on larger properties, and improving ventilation. For homes on tank water, we size fixtures and hot water systems to suit the supply. A bathroom renovation in Wallan seldom needs a planning permit from Mitchell Shire Council; what matters is licensed plumbing, compliant waterproofing and the certificates to prove it, which we handle.

Before You Start
Before You Renovate a Bathroom in Wallan
Heating
Cold Mornings at the Foot of the Range
Wallan sits below the Great Dividing Range, and the nearby Kilmore Gap weather station records July nights averaging about 4 degrees. Bathrooms there feel the cold. Underfloor heating, a heated towel rail, a ceiling heat lamp and insulation in external walls are worth planning in while the room is stripped back to the frame.
Warranty
New Estate Homes and the Builder
With Wallan’s population passing 15,000 at the 2021 census and new estates still being added, many bathrooms are only a few years old. If a near-new shower leaks or tiles crack, raise it with your builder in writing before renovating, as defects may be covered and stripping the room removes the evidence.
Asbestos
Township Bathrooms From the Commuter Boom
Wallan became a commuter town for Melbourne from the early 1970s, so many township homes have bathrooms from the 1970s and 1980s. Fibre cement sheet behind tiles in homes of this age may contain asbestos and is tested before demolition, with larger amounts removed by a licensed removalist. This is included in your quote.
Plumbing
Tank Water and Hot Water
Some lifestyle properties on Wallan’s rural edges rely on rainwater tanks and a pump. Water pressure and supply affect which shower heads, mixers and hot water systems suit the house. Our licensed plumbers check the pump and pressure before fixtures are chosen, so the new shower actually performs well.
Design
Upgrading an Estate Ensuite
Ensuites in Wallan’s estate homes were often built with a narrow shower, a single basin and a small mirror. A wider walk-in shower, a double vanity, a niche and better lighting are the usual upgrades. Keeping the toilet and floor waste where they are in the slab helps keep costs down.

Is my new Wallan home’s bathroom still under the builder’s warranty?
It may be. Victorian builders are responsible for defects for a set period after completion, and leaking showers are a common claim. Check your contract and contact the builder in writing first. If the warranty has run out or the claim is refused, we can inspect the bathroom and give you a fixed-price quote to fix it properly.
Do I need Mitchell Shire Council approval to renovate a bathroom?
Generally not for internal work in an existing bathroom. A new bathroom in an extension needs a building permit, and some properties have overlays that affect external work. Licensed plumbers and electricians complete the job, and you receive a plumbing compliance certificate and a Certificate of Electrical Safety.
Do you travel to Wallan for bathroom renovations?
Yes. We meet you at your property in Wallan to measure up, talk through what you want and check the plumbing and structure. You then receive a detailed fixed-price written quote. Our own team of trades, designers and project managers carries out the work, and most bathrooms take 2 to 4 weeks.
Is it worth renovating a Wallan bathroom before selling or leasing?
It depends on the house. In a near-new estate home, small upgrades such as better tapware, a frameless screen and storage may be all that is needed. In an older township home, a leaking shower, damaged tiles or poor ventilation will be picked up by buyers and inspectors, and fixing those comes first. We can price both approaches.
Ready to Start Your Renovation?
No matter the project, our team has the right solution. Get in touch today for a free, no-obligation quote, and let's get your renovation underway.
