Powder room & laundry into a small bathroom
“We are delighted with our new bathroom. Tony made the entire process very easy for us, which is what you want when renovating. Nothing was too much trouble and he was very patient with all our questions and provided great advice on the design and installation. The workmanship was of high quality and the quote was highly competitive. Highly recommend Tony and his team!”
Bathroom renovations: stressless and wonderful
“Thank you, Tony and your team, for a stressless and wonderful bathroom renovation. Our 4-year-old townhouse bathroom and ensuite showers had serious leakage issues, with water leaking into the walls and between floors. The builder was happy to silicone the problem as a solution. The only options were to replace the showers, or a full renovation for both rooms. We chose the latter. Tony provided a competitive quote. Despite the inevitable out-of-square bathroom issues, the job was completed without stress, on-time and in budget, and the finish was fabulous. And square. We are now looking at a kitchen update. Tony, find some time. Highly recommend Tony and the team.”
Wow! Now that's a bathroom
“In such difficult times we were so grateful that we picked Tony and his crew to renovate our bathroom. His knowledge of the industry and his attention to detail is second to none. Tony was always easy to contact and happy to discuss any issues. The standard of workmanship was outstanding. We love our new bathroom!”
Renovating Bathrooms in Windsor Homes
Windsor is a compact inner suburb between High Street and Dandenong Road, with Chapel Street and the Sandringham line running through it. Bathrooms in its Victorian terraces and cottages are usually at the rear, sometimes shared with the laundry, while the many walk-up flats and apartments have small bathrooms, often without a window and with ageing waterproofing.
Bathroom projects here usually mean making a small room work with a walk-in shower, wall-hung fittings and recessed niches, upgrading waterproofing and ventilation, adding a second bathroom upstairs or in a rear renovation, and working around shared plumbing in apartment buildings. Interior work rarely needs a planning permit, but apartment bathrooms usually need owners corporation approval before work starts. Our licensed trades certify all plumbing, waterproofing and electrical changes, and we plan stair access and parking for each delivery.

Before You Start
Before You Renovate a Bathroom in Windsor
Ventilation
Windowless Apartment Bathrooms
Many Windsor flats have an internal bathroom with no window and a fan that vents into the ceiling space or a shared duct. Mould, peeling paint and fogged mirrors usually follow. A quieter, more powerful fan connected to a compliant duct, a run-on timer and a gap under the door all help. In apartments, a new duct route may need owners corporation approval.
Apartments
Owners Corporation Rules
Windsor apartment buildings usually have owners corporation rules covering work hours, lift use, noise, waterproofing and any change to common plumbing. Approval is often needed before demolition starts, and some buildings ask for a waterproofing certificate at the end. We prepare the documents the committee or manager asks for and coordinate access with the building.
Access
Stairs and Walk-Up Access
Many Windsor walk-up blocks have no lift, and terrace staircases are often steep and narrow. A bath, vanity or shower screen has to fit up the stairwell, and every bag of rubble comes down by hand. We measure stairs, landings and doorways during the site visit and choose products that can be carried in or assembled inside the room.
Plumbing
A Second Bathroom Upstairs
Adding a bathroom upstairs in a two-storey terrace or townhouse means finding a path for waste pipes down to the sewer, which can be difficult in a narrow Windsor home with no side setback. A position above the ground-floor bathroom or kitchen usually keeps pipe runs short. We check the floor structure and drainage route before you settle on a layout.
Layout
Making a Narrow Room Work
Rear bathrooms in Windsor cottages are often long and narrow, squeezed between the kitchen and the back door. A frameless walk-in shower across the end wall, a wall-hung vanity and toilet, and a mirror cabinet recessed into the wall free up floor space. We set out the room on your floor plan so you can see the clearances before choosing tiles.

Does my Windsor apartment bathroom need owners corporation approval?
Usually, yes, if the work touches waterproofing, the floor waste, shared plumbing or ducting, or could affect the unit below. Rules differ between buildings, so we start by reading your owners corporation’s rules and asking what it needs. That might be plans, insurance details and a waterproofing certificate. We coordinate work hours and lift use with the building manager.
Which council covers my Windsor property?
Most of Windsor is in the City of Stonnington, but part of the suburb falls in the City of Port Phillip. It matters mainly for external work, heritage controls and planning permits. Interior bathroom renovations usually don’t need a planning permit from either council. We confirm the council and any overlays for your address before starting.
How long does a bathroom renovation take in a Windsor flat?
Most bathrooms take 2 to 4 weeks. In Windsor apartment buildings, the timeline also depends on approved work hours, lift bookings and how far materials have to be carried from the street, since parking near Chapel Street is limited. We confirm these details with the building before setting the schedule in your written quote.
Should we update the bathroom before selling our Windsor apartment?
In a small Windsor apartment, a tired bathroom stands out because buyers see every corner in one inspection. Regrouting, replacing the vanity and tapware, fixing a weak exhaust fan and treating any mould often make a clear difference. Replacing the waterproofing is a bigger job that needs owners corporation approval and time, so it suits owners planning to stay or a shower that is already leaking.
