Kitchen and outdoor renovations

“Fantastic service and fantastic price. We had our outdoor area fully tiled and our kitchen renovated. They talked me through the process step by step, did what they promised in the time they promised, were always on time and so very friendly. They even went out of their way with additional extras, running around Melbourne buying everything I needed to take the pressure off me. Would recommend you give them a try. The pricing is very reasonable and affordable, and nothing was too big for them to do. Father and son service, fantastic team.”

Renovating Kitchens in South Morang Homes

South Morang has grown rapidly since the 1990s, with housing estates of single and double-storey brick veneer homes and newer townhouses near the train line. Kitchens in the estate homes are usually open to a family room, but finishes, appliances and storage are often builder-grade and showing wear, and some older kitchens are still closed off.

Our South Morang Kitchen Renovation extended a cramped kitchen by 2.5 metres into an open-plan layout. Other common projects include replacing builder-grade cabinetry with stronger, better-organised storage, adding a butler’s pantry or larger island, upgrading benchtops and appliances, and improving the connection to an alfresco area. Most interior kitchen work doesn’t need a planning permit from the City of Whittlesea, and our licensed trades take care of electrical and plumbing compliance.

Before You Start

Planning a South Morang Kitchen Renovation

  1. Structure

    Extending the Kitchen

In our South Morang Kitchen Renovation, the kitchen was extended by 2.5 metres to create an open-plan layout, then finished with a new tiled floor. Pushing the kitchen out into a meals area or the yard can be the simplest way to gain space in a 1990s estate home, but it usually needs a building permit and engineering.

  2. Storage

    Drawers, Pantry and Hidden Bins

The South Morang project used two sets of deep pot drawers, overhead cupboards, a built-in pantry with custom shelving and corner cabinets, and a hidden bin cupboard. Swapping original shelves for drawers and planning a place for every item is often what makes a builder-grade kitchen feel new.

  3. Electrical

    Room for Bigger Appliances

Kitchens from the 1990s were built around a 600 mm oven and a small fridge space. The South Morang project allowed for a 900 mm oven and rangehood, a dishwasher and a large fridge. Bigger appliances may need new circuits or a gas line change, done by our licensed trades with certificates.

  4. Layout

    Island or Breakfast Bar

A waterfall-edge breakfast bar in the South Morang project gave the family a casual place to eat without a separate table. In a narrower South Morang kitchen, a breakfast bar along a peninsula can give the same benefit as an island while leaving clear walkways. We check clearances before choosing.

  5. Outdoor

    Linking to the Alfresco

Many South Morang estate homes have an alfresco under the main roof next to the family room. Placing the cooktop or sink so you can see and reach the outdoor area, and widening the door if needed, makes outdoor meals easier. New or wider openings generally need a building permit.

FAQ

Kitchen Renovations South Morang: Your Questions

Ask Us Anything
Can I see a kitchen you have renovated in South Morang?

Yes. Our South Morang Kitchen Renovation extended the kitchen by 2.5 metres and added gloss-white cabinetry, a reconstituted quartz stone benchtop, a glass splashback, a double sink, deep pot drawers, a built-in pantry and a waterfall-edge breakfast bar. The project page has photos of the finished kitchen.

Do I need a permit to extend my South Morang kitchen?

Extending the kitchen into a new part of the house generally needs a building permit, and a planning permit from the City of Whittlesea may be needed depending on your lot and any overlays. A kitchen replaced within the same space usually needs neither. We confirm requirements for your address before design is finalised.

Is quartz a good benchtop for a family kitchen?

Reconstituted quartz, as used in our South Morang project, is hard-wearing, easy to clean and suits busy family kitchens. It can mark from very hot pans, so trivets are wise. We can show samples alongside laminate and other options so you can compare look and durability.

Can we use our kitchen while you renovate?

Not while the old kitchen is removed and the new one is installed, but the rest of the house stays usable. Many South Morang families set up a temporary kitchen in the laundry or family room. We contain dust, clean up daily and give you a written timeline at the start.

Should I renovate the kitchen before I sell or lease my South Morang home?

Many South Morang kitchens are now 20 to 30 years old, with tired laminate, worn hinges and dated appliances. Buyers and tenants in family suburbs look closely at the kitchen. If the layout works, new benchtops, doors, splashback and appliances may be enough. A full renovation suits kitchens where the cabinets themselves are breaking down.
